LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Longview police have identified a suspected department store robber, and they say it is thanks to KLTV viewers. Police say they were flooded with tips on Michael J. Dietz after we first reported the robbery.

Dietz is believed to be the man on surveillance video taken from the Longview Sears on September 24th. Police say Dietz and an unidentified female stole several video game systems, then fled while security chased them. Police say they talked to Dietz over the phone, and he reportedly told officers, "Come and get me."

"It's is unusual for somebody [to say that] when an investigator contacts them saying, 'Listen, we've got a warrant for your arrest,'" said Officer Kevin Brownlee, with Longview police. "Obviously, the easiest thing to do is to is for them to come and turn themselves in, that way there's not a problem. There's no hassle. [They] kind of do it at their convenience almost. But, to say, 'Hey, I know you've got a warrant, but you're going to have to come find me. I'm not going to turn myself in.' That's fairly unusual."

If you know where Michael Dietz is, call Longview police.
