GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Some East Texas children made a shocking discovery when they went into the woods near their house to play on their tree fort and trampoline Sunday afternoon.

According to Justice of the Peace for Precinct 2, Arthur Fort, the children found the remains of 48-year-old James Vickery of Longview on their trampoline. The discovery took place in the 5800 block of Old Highway 80 between Longview and White Oak.

Fort said that judging from the skeletal remains, Vickery had been dead for a while. According to Fort, Vickery was reported as missing in July of 2009. He added that the children had not been to play in the area for a while.

Chris Taylor and Terry Davis with Longview Police are investigating, but Fort says he doesn't suspect foul play was involved. The remains have been sent to Tyler for an autopsy.
