Lon Morris Celebrates Homecoming, Anniversary

For one local college, homecoming is even more special this year.

Lon Morris College in Jacksonville held a dedication ceremony today for their new technology center and their remodeled library. It's part of their homecoming festivities this weekend, celebrating one hundred and thirty years of being sponsored by the Methodist church. For faculty and alumni, this weekend is a chance to come home again for a college that holds a special place in their lives.

"We educate the whole person," college President and Lon Morris alum Dr. Clifford Lee explains. "Our product that we offer students is an experience. They live on campus, they share life together, and they not only get a quality education of the head, they also get a quality education of the heart."

Although the church has been sponsored for 130 years, it is actually older than that figure. Next year, the college will be celebrating one hundred and fifty years of existence.
