BULLARD, TX (KLTV) - If you drove on County Road 344, near Bullard, Thursday, nothing was there yet. But, by Saturday, the Greater Life Church will be standing tall.
Services start for the Greater Life Church Sunday at 10. That means, they've got work to do. It is faith on a deadline.
"It's a lot of planning, a lot of faith, and a lot of vision," Mission Director E.W. Whitmire admitted.
A church built in a day. It's an example of faith in action, with hundreds of people chipping in.
"You have a buy-in of ownership," church member Scott Brinker said. "When you put in your own hard work and effort, and see the effort of everybody else, the buy-in there is just incredible. Not only for myself, but for my family, and all those who helped to build the church."
Inside, the church was alive with dozens and dozens of people working in every direction. It looked like chaos, but it was actually organized and focused.
"It shows what can happen, and shows what can happen in our country," Whitmire said. "it used to be a common thing with barn raisings and whatever but this is much grander."
The first service is Sunday, but they're not worried. They know there's a friend looking out for them.
"The ultimate contractor is the Lord," Brinker said. "We've had rain for two-three weeks straight, Wednesday is was pouring down rain and yet, we're able to get this done. The Lord's got us on a deadline, we'll be able to take care of what we need. Everything else is just hammers and nails."
That organization has actually built 17 one-day churches across Texas, including five here in East Texas.
