Overton Principal Leaving Post

The end of a longtime East Texas principal's tenure has angered some parents and students in Overton. For the past 23 years, Harold Stanger has been the Principal at Overton High School. He decided to retire from the post last November, but had second thoughts later and decided to re-apply for the job in January.

The school board says a technicality means Stanger missed the deadline to re-apply, something the student body and Principal Stanger don't think was fair play. Stanger says for the good of the school and the students, he will not pursue the matter and finish out the school year as principal before moving on.
