A man accused of pushing through a Smith County woman's door and attempting to steal from her home is now behind bars. The young man and a second suspect, who is still on the loose, knocked on the woman's door and offered free roofing services. Instead, they ran into her home looking for valuables.
Acting on a Crimestoppers tip, Smith County authorities obtained a warrant and arrested 19-year old Eugene Tyson Acker Wednesday night.
Smith County is working with Whitehouse and Tyler Police on several other roofing scams and burglary cases. They say its possible more arrests could happen.
