Released by Maya Bethany with Lindale ISD:

LINDALE, TX - The Lindale ISD Education Foundation begins its first major fundraising campaign with the Founders' Drive Kickoff Dinner, On Tuesday, October 20 at 6:00 p.m. the Hide-A-Way Lake Lodge. The Founders' Drive will run through December 4.

Now in its second year of existence, the Lindale ISD Education Foundation will honor all donors who contributed before the official start of the Founders' Drive at the invitation-only dinner.

Chairman of the lead gifts campaign Barham Fulmer said, "We cannot say thank you enough to our Lead Founder Donors for their generosity and support in getting our fund established on a firm footing. It is these funds that the Foundation can build on for the future to give the support to our schools that will keep Lindale in the forefront as an outstanding school district."

The Lindale ISD Education Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that funds innovative educational programs and activities not funded or under-funded by the school district's operating budget.  Executive Director Maya Bethany said the Founders' Drive is key in supporting creative opportunities for Lindale ISD students and teachers.

"The money raised during the Founders' Drive will greatly benefit the children of our community," Mrs. Bethany said.  "There are so many LISD teachers with extremely creative ideas for helping their students learn, but they do not necessarily have the funds to purchase what they need to start these projects.  The Foundation wants to make sure these teachers have every opportunity to enhance learning for their students."

"LISD is a Texas Education Agency ‘recognized' district with four exemplary campuses. We want to make sure that tradition of academic excellence continues and improves," Bethany said.

The Foundation will hand out its first round of grants to teachers this fall with plans for another round in the spring of the 2009-2010 school year.

On Monday the Associated Press released its top 25 preseason poll for college football. And for the third straight year, Texas A&M didn't make the cut. Starting fast though and moving their way up the polls in recent seasons hasn't been the problem. In fact, the Aggies, who have over a dozen East Texans on the roster, were number four in the initial playoff rankings last year.
