Chick-fil-A Stocks Salvation Army Shelves with Soup

On a cold day, there's nothing better than a bowl of hot soup. And thanks to Chick-Fil-A, The Salvation Army of Smith County will be well equipped to handle the next cold spell.

The chain's Tyler stores added up all the soup they sold these last two weeks, and donated the same amount to The Salvation Army. The donation will provide the non-profit with more than a thousand cups of soup.

Those responsible for preparing the dishes call the donation a blessing.

"I feel great, because this makes it a whole lot easier for us," says Derrick Thomas, service manager. "There's nights we have a church come out to make sandwiches and feed the residents. We have to prepare soup for them, so all this soup right here will be used for a while."

Chick-Fil-A representatives plan on holding the drive again next year.
