JACKSONVILLE, TX (KLTV) - A murder warrant is now out for the man police say shot an East Texan, right in front of his 2-year-old daughter. Jacksonville police say 22-year-old Gregory Charles Taylor, II shot 26-year-old Kendrick O'Neal around 4 Wednesday morning. O'Neal's daughter was standing near the doorway at the Sweet Union apartment complex.

2-year-old Brazia O'Neal likes to play with her cousins in her grandmother's front yard, a very different reality from the one she experienced Wednesday morning.

"She just said that she saw him shoot her daddy," said Dorothy Rogers, Brazia's grandmother. "When I first got her, all she did...she just held me."

Dorothy's daughter (Brazia's mother) did not want to go on camera. But, she says she was with her boyfriend, (Brazia's father) Kendrick O'Neal, inside another relative's apartment. She says that's when her ex-boyfriend, Gregory Taylor, burst inside. Police say moments later, there was a disturbance outside on the staircase.

"She was coming out, walking down, and he told her to go back into the apartment, and that's when the baby was outside, and they were trying to get the baby inside," said Police Chief Reese Daniels.

"We heard a couple of gunshots...we came outside...I ran over there," said Ray Daniels, a neighbor and friend. "By the time I ran over there, I just saw blood coming out of his head."

"I'm trying to get it out my head," said Jeffery McCuin, a witness. "I can't get it out my head, man."

A neighbor called 9-1-1 and the suspect left. Police say Kendrick O'Neal was shot twice in the head.

"It's heartbreaking," said Daniels.

Chief Reese Daniels says jealousy normally fuels these types of disturbances. Multiple mug shots and an extensive rap sheet detail the suspect's previous run-ins with police.

"I hope that we can do everything we can do for them and to bring this young man to justice," said Daniels.

A little girl's reality...changed forever.

"I don't know what to tell his daughter," said Rogers. "We're all praying...we loved Kendrick like he was our own. We love him."

Kendrick O'Neal also has an 8-year-old daughter who lives in Tyler.

Again, Jacksonville Police have a murder warrant out for Taylor and say he is likely still armed. If you see him, call police immediately.
