LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - HazMat crews are cleaning up a chemical spill in Longview along South Street.

According to Longview Fire's Battalion Chief, approximately 300 gallons of ammonium chloride leaked out of its holding tank while it was being transported by a trailer on South Street between Ferdonia Street and Spur 63. The spill happened around 2pm after a security strap cut into the hold tank's plastic, causing a leak.

Longview fire says they expect clean up to take about two more hours. Five intersection are affected by the clean up. Officials took standard precautions, and throughly washed the trailer driver's arms.

No evacuation of the area was necessary.
