New security measures at Gilmer ISD

GILMER, TX (KLTV) - New security measures are going up at Gilmer ISD, in response to a stranger on campus. Surveillance camera's are now in place on all major entrances at Gilmer Elementary School. You'll remember two weeks ago, Michael Willard was arrested for reportedly wandering into the school and taking a picture of a girl in the bathroom. Along with the camera's, a Upshur County sheriff's deputy will be monitoring school campuses.

"The suspect that was involved in the incident earlier has actually bonded out of jail," said Mark Moore, with the Upshur County Sheriff's Department. "That's the reason we have had deputies present there at the campuses. As a parent myself, with school children there I feel very confident and very secure of my children being there right now."

A full-time deputy will be at the elementary and intermediate campus starting mid-October. Michael Willard is charged with criminal trespassing.
