Released by Lisa Yarbrough with Longview World of Wonders:

LONGVIEW, TX - Longview Children's Museum today announced that it will now be known as Longview World of WondersTM, or LongviewWOWTM for short. In early 2009, an effort began to bring a world-class, hands-on discovery center to Longview and the greater east Texas area. A group of local volunteers has worked together to establish a board of directors, write the center's bylaws and create organizational committees, which will continue its efforts until a permanent facility is opened to the public.

In the interim, LongviewWOW has launched its Museum Without Walls initiative to build awareness around the effort and to ensure that children in the community can experience many hand-on activities while the museum site is identified and developed.  As a part of this initiative on October 3, 2009, LongviewWOW will host "LEGO® World" a hands-on program designed for children to interact with LEGOs.

"The community's response has been phenomenal," said Stephanie Stoddard, president-elect of Longview World of Wonders.  "Watching everyone work together to create LongviewWOW is going to be a remarkable adventure - one that will benefit our children and grandchildren for many years to come."

The official Web site is now live at www.longviewwow.org. Please visit the Web to get the latest information about LongviewWOW, a calendar of programs scheduled throughout the fall, and progress as the executives continue to push forward its 501(C)3 application. The LongviewWOW Capital campaign will launch shortly after January 1, 2010. Everyone is encouraged to participate as a volunteer, member or contributor.

The John Tyler Lions always seem to look sharp in their uniforms. But thanks to East Texas lawyer Keith Miller, the Lions will look better and play safer. Helmets that advertise lowering the impact of hits, and possibly reduce the amount of concussions, come with a hefty price-tag. Miller's donation of 7,500 dollars, will go to help the lions cover that cost. "Keith Miller's been a big sponsor of John Tyler High School football program for years now.  I know it's...More >>

The last time we talked about the Kilgore Bulldogs, quarterback Buddy Jackson and wide receiver Jonathan Shepherd were apart of the 800-meter relay team that won gold at the 2017 state track meet. But today they are back in the pads, and looking to turn their speed into touchdowns.  Competing in District 9-4A, Kilgore has always had a strong run game that helped them become the 2016 District Champs.
