Behind fences and razor wire, inmates at Bradhsaw State Jail facility are doing something about their future... Getting and education.
With friends and family on hand, 38 inmates were awarded their G.E.D. Paul Weir finished first in the class. His first formal education in 47 years. There were graduates in culinary arts and parenting skills, all in an effort to give men who maybe just made bad decisions, a new direction to go.
The teaching staff also wanted to see families re-united.
Some family members were overcome with pride. Others sat like old friends and talked. Other still got to hold their grandchildren for the first time.
The education program is designed to give inmates a chance to choose whether there is another life waiting for them.
