It took only minutes for a Marshall jury to sentence a former minister, accused of sex crimes with children. Former Lutheran minister Gerald Thomas was found guilty on eleven counts of sex crimes against children. He was sentenced to 397 years in prison. Thomas was arrested in May of 2001 for sexual assault of several teenage boys that he befriended while he was minister at Good Shepherd Lutheran church in Marshall.
His setence is made up of three consecutive 99 year terms for three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, plus additional time on eight other charges.
