GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - One East Texas county is urging residents there to get flu shots immediately because they have seen flu cases shoot through the roof.

The Gregg County Health Department received seasonal flu vaccines last week. And, several pharmacies in Longview, like Louis Morgan Pharmacy, are seeing an influx of people signing up to get their flu shots. The Gregg County Health Department has a little more than a hundred flu vaccines left.

"Peak season for us is normally February but since April of last year we have seen just sparse amounts of flu all along, and it really has never completely stopped," said Settie Clark, an immunization manager.

In Tyler, the Northeast Texas Public Health District says the seasonal flu vaccine is available. Some Tyler pharmacies have flue shots, as well as CVS and Walgreens.
