Take a Piece, Pay the Price

Take a piece, pay the price. The federal government arrested two East Texans for allegedly stealing some Space Shuttle Columbia debris.

43 year old Merrie Hipp of Henderson has been charged with one count of theft of government property. She is accused of stealing a circuit board from the shuttle on Saturday.

23 year old Bradley Justin Gaudet of Nacogdoches is also charged with one count of theft of government property. The Stephen F. Austin, R.O.T.C. student is accused of stealing a piece of thermal insulating fabric.

Both suspects pleaded not guilty to stealing the shuttle wreckage. There are also at least 17 open cases involving the possible sale of parts on e-bay.

If you have a piece of the shuttle debris you can return it without facing charges. The grace period started at 1:00 today (Wednesday) and goes until 5:00 p.m. Friday.
