HALLSVILLE, TX (KLTV) - A big birthday was held in celebration of an East Texas bank passing the century mark.
First State Bank of Hallsville celebrated their 100th birthday Friday. In recognition, a party was held at the bank, complete with old photographs and even a visit from native son and State Representative, Bryan Hughes. Still independently owned and operated, bank staff say their a simple reason for their success.
"We've had four or five presidents of this bank, and I've been here 41 of the 100 years so were proud of that," said John Ruff, bank president. "It's a commitment to community banking, to our customers. We take care of them and they take care of us."
One family of customers had five generations show up for the celebration.
