TYLER, TX (KLTV) - It was a big day for little Zoi as her forever family officially welcomed her home.
"I feel very excited in a different way," said the nine-year-old.
Featured on the Gift of Love twice, she has been in foster care since 2004.
"I used to think about her when I was making cookies and stuff and I would think this is an experience she's never had...to sit with your mother and make cookies," said Janet Clem, a CASA worker. "She's never had that. She's never gone on a vacation until these people."
She was just five when her search began for an adoptive family. Now, at nine years old, her dream has come true.
"She's been in a lot of different homes and treatment centers, and they have looked for homes for her," said Clem.
"My family is really, really nice," said Zoi. "They treat me like I am a daughter of God's own heart."
And, to celebrate Zoi's adoption day, family and friends gather's at Sister's Cafe in Canton with balloons, cake and, of course, presents.
The gift from her parents is every child's dream, especially for Zoi who has never been on a vacation until now, you guessed it, a trip to Disney World!
"I look forward to the rides because I love the teapots from Cinderella," said Zoi. "And, maybe I can get Minnie to come on that ride with me and maybe I can go to the water park."
Zoi's family originally saw her on the Texas Adoption Resource Exchange, but fell in love with her when they viewed her Gift of Love segment on April 9, 2008. They've worked with Zoi for over a year, and helped her overcome many challenges.
"These people have rescued a child who was on the verge of not having any kind of a normal life," said Clem.
They've given the beautiful young girl a family to call her own and shown her the gift of love.
