Released by Heather Newman with the City of Tyler:
Handmade cards are the focus of "ArtCards," a series of workshops led by Christie Daugherty at the Tyler Public Library in September and October. Participants will learn the art of rubber-stamping, embellishing and card making from a professional.
The next session will be Tuesday, Sept. 29 and the classes will continue every other Tuesday in September and October from 10:30 a.m. until noon. One Saturday class is also scheduled for Oct. 24, 10:30 am. in the Library's Taylor Auditorium at 201 S. College, downtown Tyler.
A $10 supply fee is payable at the beginning of every class and includes all materials needed to make three projects each session. Participants may attend as many sessions as they choose.
The Tyler Public Library houses over 200,000 items and has almost 20,000 cardholders. Nearly 58,000 people visited the library from January to March of 2009, and more than 60,000 items were circulated. In addition, two dozen Internet access work stations are in constant use seven days a week.
