WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) released the following statement on the 8th anniversary of the September 11 attacks:

"Eight years ago today, the United States looked into the face of evil when terrorists brought the violence of Islamic extremism onto our soil, claiming the lives of nearly 3,000 Americans. That day changed the course of history," said Sen. Hutchison. "I remember where I was and what I was doing as the attacks unfolded, as all Americans do. What's also important is where we stand today. We are stronger, bolder, and more grateful for our freedom. Today, as we remember those who gave their lives on 9/11, let us also think of and thank our troops in harm's way who are bravely fighting to preserve our security and our liberty."
