WASHINGTON - U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, issued the following statement regarding the eighth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks:

"Eight years ago, our nation experienced the worst terrorist attacks in our history. This year and every year, we pause to remember the thousands of innocent people who lost their lives. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of our fellow citizens lost on that day, our service members and their families, and the American people as we observe the anniversary of this tragedy.

"America's resolve to fight against terrorism remains stronger than ever, thanks to the sacrifice and devotion of our Armed Forces, first responders and intelligence community. We must continue to stay on offense in the Global War on Terror, as we have many enemies who still wish to do harm to the United States and its citizens."

Sen. Cornyn serves on the Finance, Judiciary, Agriculture and Budget Committees. He serves as the top Republican on the Judiciary Committee's Immigration, Refugees and Border Security subcommittee. He served previously as Texas Attorney General, Texas Supreme Court Justice, and Bexar County District Judge.
