A Longview Hazmat unit was called to the Nacogdoches area to bring an unusual, but necessary piece of equipment for the inspection of debris. A crew from Longviews' Big D Hazmat were called in by the Nacogdoches Sheriffs Department to a secure area where debris was being collected. The crew says dozens of pieces of debris were being marked and secured for the investigation into the shuttle tragedy. The crew was instructed to bring a gieger-counter, to check pieces for radioactivity. So far, none of the debris examined has shown any radioactivity.
