Tyler, TX - Preparations are underway at the fairgrounds for the 94th East Texas State Fair. This year's fair will begin on Thursday, September 24 and operate until Sunday, October 4.

Thursday, September 24th marks the 40th Senior Citizens' Day celebration at the East Texas State Fair with free gate admission for all adults 55 or better. Senior Citizens may enjoy either of two special programs-Morning Session 8:30 am to 12 pm and Afternoon Session 12:30 pm to 3:15 pm in Harvey Convention Center. Each session features special entertainment, recognition of Senior Citizen of the Year, refreshments and door prizes. A senior citizens' dance will follow the afternoon session with entertainment by Hoss Huggins and the Ponderosa Band. Senior Citizens' Day is presented by CBS-19.

Many exciting attractions have been added to the schedule for the 2009 Fair.

The Ag Magic Show, sponsored by the Junior League of Tyler, Inc., will delight children and families with a unique blend of magic and local agriculture information.

The 2009 Adrenaline Jam Tour, from IGX-Interactive Gaming Experience, provides the hottest games and entertainment from Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2. Presented by KLTV

The Great American Petting Zoo is unlike any other petting zoo. There are no enclosures in this zoo...mingle with friendly, hand-raised animals. Children can get up close to a fawn, chickens, miniature goats and even a wallaby.

Sandscapes professional sand sculptors will turn a 50-ton pile of sand into a work of art during the 11 day run of the fair. Sponsored by Samsung.

Sean Emery, the funny guy who juggles stuff, will fill the stage with electricity and the audience with laughter with his jokes, juggling and merriment. Presented by KETK, Sean will be performing 2-3 times daily during the fair.

The 2,000 square foot synthetic ice skating rink is back. Thirty-minute skating sessions and skate rentals for $5 sponsored by Samsung.

The East Texas State Fair will bring "Joy to the World" and East Texas when legendary music icons, THREE DOG NIGHT perform on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 8 pm.

"The moment you hear the words 'Jeremiah was a Bullfrog', your mind instantly travels to a fond memory, no matter if you are 65 or 25. The East Texas State Fair is proud to host a classic rock band with such notoriety," said John Sykes, General Manager of the East Texas State Fair.

Perfectly re-creating their larger than life songs with customary impeccable harmonies and exciting arrangements, THREE DOG NIGHT will perform their hits including "Joy to The World", "Shambala", "Mama Told Me (Not To Come)", "One", "Liar", "Black and White", "Celebrate" and many more of the tracks that drive to their chart and sales success.

The gates, exhibits and most attractions open at 10am every morning with free gate admission Monday-Friday until 1pm. Monday through Friday the ice skating rink opens at 3pm and the carnival and rides get going at 5pm. Saturday and Sunday everything opens at 10am. With daily gate and ride specials, attractions for all ages and a concert every day there is something for the entire family at the 94th East Texas State Fair.
