TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A front line Marine comes home from a tour in Iraq before going to another hot spot, Afghanistan.
For Marine Corporal Bobby Joe Jordan, the welcome home at Berryville left him almost speechless.
"I didn't know what to think," Jordan said.
After a year in Iraq, on the front line of marine infantry, the 21 year old is home for a well deserved leave.
"Always good to come home. It's a great feeling" he said.
But Bobby is a Marine, and Marines go where the fighting is. So he's headed to Afghanistan next.
"I'll be here through the 17th then deploy to Afghanistan in October. Really that's what I've been trained to do so that doesn't bother me. You've just got to make the best of it when you go" Bobby said.
"I appreciate he does what he does but it scares me," said his mother Margaret Wilson.
"Its an ongoing thing that we've done since the conception of our country, that the Marines have been there to take action wherever deemed necessary. We're just behind them 110%" said retired Marine Joe Wiesner, who welcomed Jordan home.
Jordan expressed his appreciation of support for what he's done and what he'll do in the future.
"Its just a great feeling. I thank them for doing this. I never had anything like this before," he said.
"As long as we've got these boys coming home , we'll be here for them" Wiesner said.
