If you own a home in Smith or Gregg County, Friday is the last day to file your property taxes.
People lined up outside the Smith County Tax office Thursday morning to beat the looming deadline. Smith County still has $43 million in uncollected property taxes. They'll be operating full-staff Friday to serve as many people as they can.
"We're expecting long lines, but they get through everyone quickly, so there's usually not a long wait," says Gloria Reeves, supervisor in the Smith County Tax Office.
The final deadline to pay your taxes is Friday. The tax offices of both counties are open from 8 a.m. to 4:30p.m.
