Gamblers dealt a blow

Posted by Ellen Krafve - email

CHEROKEE COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - 23 gambling machines and over $1,500 was seized by Cherokee County authorities at around 4pm Monday.

Investigators say tips from the community lead them to a remote location where they observed the "operation." The building that house the gambling machines also provided parking, a bathroom and a snack bar for patrons.

So far no arrests have been made, but authorities say they expect to make multiple arrests soon. If you have any information related to this case or any other illegal gambling operations call the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office at 903-683-2271.

According to Texas law, "anyone found to be promoting gambling, operating a gambling place, possessing gambling devices, or communicating gambling information is subject to arrest on a Class "A" Misdemeanor."
