EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - In honor of the lives lost on September 11, 2001, East Texans are donating food, clothes, field-supplies and other items for the troops serving overseas.

Police stations in Overton, New London, Arp, Troup, Kilgore, Tyler, Whitehouse, Henderson and the Broughton Recreation Center in Longview all have collection boxes set-up where which you can drop off your donations.

Operation United Celebration One Nation Under God, a free event which will take place on September 11th at 6p.m. at the Overton City Park/Community bldg., will honor the armed forces, policemen, firemen, paramedics and veterans for their service.

Organizers still need help to cover the shipping costs for the care packages, so if you'd like to help, please send checks to:

United State Post Office-Kilgore, TX
Special Provision Acct. 444
500 N. Kilgore
Kilgore, TX 75662-5830

Aside from the ceremony honoring our troops, a three minute hot-dog eating contest and a motorcycle & truck show will round out the event.
