What?! A sandwich without bread?

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - There has got to be a better way to get bacon and chicken together, and KFC thinks they've come up with it. It's called the "Double Down."

The calorie fest features the Colonel's Secret Sauce wrapped in a slice of both pepperjack and Swiss cheese, two slices of bacon and, serving as the bread, are two filets of KFC chicken.

"That is kind of strange," said Pat Goldston, a KFC fan.

Yes, the chicken holds the sandwich together. The Double Down sells for $6.99 and, although no nutritional information is offered, and independent assessment claims the Double Down has the caloric equivalent of three Big Macs.

"Well, it's different," said Goldston. "[It] sounds good once a month maybe, every two weeks, two months, a month."

Just the thought of it has some saying they'll give their diets a day off.

"It sounds yummy," said Margie Bridges, who loves chicken. "I would probably eat it once every four to five months."

But some aren't quite sold.

Until it's in our area though, you'll have to make your own however you can.

The Double Down is currently being test marketed in Nebraska and Rhode Island, so right now, there's no word on when or if it will go national.
