Cheap Eats: Hamburger, hot links...heaven

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - For you first Cheap Eats, I went north and found myself at a shop offering some signature sandwiches. Snappy Pappy's puts together a deal owner, Tim Blair, is proud of.

"It's kinda like a sandwich your grandmother would make you," said Blair.

A sandwich, chips, and a 32 ounce drink only cost $4.59.

Next, I went to the town of Pittsburg. For more than 25 years, Pittsburg Hot Links has worked on perfecting the art of the mini sausage, and apparently Cheap Eats as well. Four hotlinks, a side of your choice and an iced tea run you $5.

Cheap Eats rule #27: When eating a hot link, always accompany it with an ice cold drink.

I went a few streets over for my final stop of the day. Wag a Bag Deli, located in a Mobil gas station, has far more than the standard fried fare.

"We don't do anything instant," said manager, Linda Gonzalez. "Everything is from scratch. It's real good home cooked meal."

She proved it with pies and their amazing lunch bargain. A hamburger, fries, and any size drink adds up to just $3.78 making it this week's Cheap Eats champion.

And, if you can't get enough $5 deals we've got you covered. Just click here. There you'll find the every deal we've discovered in our exclusive cheap eats map. And, to send us your Cheap Eats suggestions, click here.
