TYLER, TX (KLTV) - They are making sure East Texas kids are ready for back to school. In Tyler, the Khakis for Kids drive is going on at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Families who are pre-registered can get everything from pens and pencils to school uniforms and socks. Volunteers say that the parents aren't the only ones who really appreciate the help.
"The best part is to see the kids faces," said Donna Gass, St. Paul Children's Foundation volunteer. "I've never seen a kid not be excited about a new pair of pants or a new pair of shoes. [They say,] 'Thank you so much for my new school clothes.' So that's the most exciting part."
The school drive will continue Wednesday for all the families that are pre-registered. After that, families can still go by St. Paul's for any extra supplies.
