ETMC Spends $2 Million Making Patients More Comfortable For Surgery

It's a $2 million dollar construction project to make a hospital patients stay a bit more comfortable.

The newly remodeled surgery area at ETMC in Tyler means a big change for the way their patients get ready to go under the knife.

Instead of being taken down several floors to the surgical suites, 17 prep stations are just down the hall.  From start to finish, patients won't have to be taken far.

Martha Bush, director of surgical services says, "For the patient, they eliminate two or three different points of waiting, which is always frustrating.  Also, they can go to one department, have one primary nurse, and kind of bond."

The new surgery suites go online Thursday morning.
