Two-a-Day Tour: Marshall Mavericks

By Coleman Swierc - bio | email

MARSHALL, TEXAS (KLTV) - It will be a new beginning all around for the Marshall Mavericks.

Gone is all-world athlete Daruis Jones, now at Oklahoma.

Gone are twelve starters.

But don't underestimate those that are left.

"We have the talent," said Teven Trammell, "and we have worked hard all this summer to show that and to show people not to underestimate us just because we lost people and we still have people that can do the same thing."

Thedrick Harris will enter his 3rd year at the helm of the Mavs, and while they may be young, they are tough.

"We have a fast and powerful defense, and we have young guys and they are stepping it up," said Jesse Alejandro, "and a good powerful offense that is ready to get it done."

The district, one of the toughest in the state, but the Mavs say not to overlook anyone, especially them.

"It is tough," said Trammell, "but we are going to give all we have everyweek, and we are going to get back to the days that people are used to around here, when Marshall was the team to beat."
