San Antonio, Texas (KLTV) - Sporting a neck brace, Coach Joe Decamillis really sticks out on the football field.

"He's a tough son of a gun," said Cowboys Head Coach Wade Phillips.  "I think he's a good example that it takes toughness to do your job sometimes."

He's tough, or crazy.  Just three months ago, Decamillis was trapped under the Cowboys practice facility with a broken neck.

There's still things he can't do.

"Sleeping's not great," said Decamillis.  "I can't turn my neck around"

He has to sleep sitting up, but won't lay down on his job.  Decamillis says it's not about inspiring his players.  It's about winning.

"I think it wasn't to set the tone, but get the work done."

"When you see him out here in the condition that he's in after what he went through, and if you're tired and look at him that gives you the extra juice to go," said Cowboys receiver Mike Jefferson.  "If he can be out here, there's no excuse for us not to be out here."

It's easy for Decamillis to give his all to the team. So many Cowboys fans have been good to him.

"Getting mail from them and the prayers that people gave to me and for me were unbelievable," he said.  "This has been a different challenge than I've ever had, but hopefully I'm getting through it well."
