Shooting fireworks within city limits? Think again

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Police responded to a loud banging noise Thursday morning at a home in the 3600 block of Old Bullard Road in Tyler. But, when the officers approached the home, they found a teenager playing with fireworks. Police confiscated the fireworks and cited 16-year-old Zackary Allen's parents for possessing and shooting fireworks within the city limits. And, as part of his punishment, Allen's dad made him explain himself.

"I'm sorry to the warfare police people who came out here and had to deal with us when it was nothing really to be upset about," said Allen.

Again, the parents, not Allen, were cited with a misdemeanor. However, the father said he's going to have his son pay the fine. But, because Allen spoke with us, he won't have to pay the whole amount.
