Snow Settles in East Texas Sunday

Channel 7 forecasters say it's still too early to tell if East Texas roads will get icy come Monday morning, but bridges very well could.

So far, the unfamiliar snow really hasn't given Tyler Police any major problems with snow or sleet related accidents.

It's unusual weather for Texans, but it happened. East Texas became a winter wonderland Sunday, for a few hours, at least.

It's been some time since we've seen significant amounts of snow.

This morning, rain turned into sleet and then later into flurries. The snowfall lasted about two hours, and only stuck in some places.

City of Tyler street crews are monitoring the weather, working with Tyler Police to pinpoint any trouble spots quickly. Also, they will begin de-icing bridges and roads beginning at four in the morning if the roads freeze overnight.
