UPSHUR COUNTY, TX (KLTV) An Upshur county man is sentenced to prison, for his part in a motorcycle crash that killed his passenger. The crash happened in September of 2006 on Marigold Road in Diana.

Investigators say 42-year-old Phillip Earl Joiner of Gilmer took five different drugs before getting on a motorcycle with a female passenger. Soon after, Joiner crashed into another vehicle killing the passenger who, authorities say, was his girlfriend.

Joiner was sentenced this week to eight years in prison for second degree felony intoxication manslaughter.
