Big Sandy hires Minter as new AD

After coming down to the wire, the Big Sandy Wildcats finally have their man.

After losing athletic director and head football coach Darold Turner earlier this month, Big Sandy ISD has announced that Larry Minter will take over the reigns of the Wildcat program.

Minter is a 1991 graduate of Big Sandy, and this will be his first head coaching job.

"It has been a dream of mine to come back home," said Minter, "I am from here and so is my wife, so for us to come back, it is a dream come true."

Minter has spent several years as an assistant, including two stints at Big Sandy, and also has experience at West Rusk, Quitman and Gladewater.

Minter won't have much time to prepare, the Wildcats open up fall practice in just ten days on August 3rd.

"It is going to tough, but we have a group of great coaches here, and we expect to be on the field and ready to go come the 3rd."
