New Tyler Child Support Call Center Opens in Tyler

Parents trying to settle child support matters in East Texas now have more help at their disposal.

New Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott officially opened the Tyler Regional Child Support Call Center Thursday.

Thousands of customers from Tyler, Longview, Paris and Texarkana will now be automatically patched into the call center when they have questions about their child support case.

Abbott says Tyler's new call center is important to East Texans because before the state had regional centers, only about 14 percent of calls a month were answered. Now it's up to 97 percent.

"People led a life of frustration dealing with the child support system frequently not having their calls answered," says John Abbott. "Now in less than a minute, people right here can call have it answered and get the information they need to facilitate the child support matter."

Two other A.G. offices will be added to Tyler's call center this year, Nacogdoches and Woodville.
