LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Some East Texans eating lunch had quite a scare Tuesday afternoon when an SUV ran off the road and crashed into the front of a Mexican restaurant.
A white Chevrolet Tahoe crashed smack into Taco San Luis, leaving broken glass in its trail and diners stunned.
"They said, 'Ahhhh!' and then zoom just like that," said the restaurant's owner, Angel Monsivais snapping his fingers.
Police say the Tahoe was traveling southbound on North High Street where traffic is known to be congested. That's when a black Cadillac Escalade veered into the Tahoe's lane.
"They cut him off and the white Tahoe jumped the curve and ran into our building," explained David Monsivais, the owner's son. "Everything happen all of a sudden. It was real quick. We didn't have time to react. Afterwards, everyone was in shock and scared at the same time."
To make it even scarier, customers were actually sitting at the booths by the windows when the crash happened.
"Maybe a couple of more inches they would have gotten...the truck would have taken them also," said David Monsivais. "They got glass thrown all over them and they've got some bruises and some cuts all over their face."
The restaurant owner told us the driver of the Tahoe was pregnant and surprisingly managed to walk away from the accident. As for the black Escalade that caused the crash? They took off! And, like their plaque on the wall, Taco San Luis is just blessed that the crash didn't turn deadly.
"It could have been a lot worst," said David Monsivais. I thank God that nobody got hurt."
None of the restaurant customers had to be taken to the hospital, but the pregnant driver was taken to the hospital to be checked out.
