TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Hospice care providers say they help 1.5 million patients and family members each year. They, also, say if something isn't done quickly, many of those patients and families may be denied those special services.

3,500 providers have signed a letter to President Obama, asking him to stop cuts to the Medicare Hospice Benefit, enacted by the Bush Administration.

Hospice of East Texas was one of them. It says those reimbursements help them offer their services free of charge.

The Obama Administration already approved a moratorium on the funding cuts, but it expires in September.

It is reported that hospice care saved more than $2-billion in Medicare costs this year.
