It started as a routine traffic stop in Gregg County, but it turned into a major marijuana bust. Nine and a half pounds of marijuana were found in a car stopped on I-20 Thursday morning.
Police say the car was stopped for driving on the shoulder of the highway. Officers smelled a strong odor, and a search of the vehicle by a K-9 officer netted a travel bag containing the drugs. A 48 year old man and 43 year old woman, both from Dallas, were charged with possession and transportation of marijuana. Both remain in the Gregg County jail on $7500 dollars bond each.
