Chris Davis staying positive in OKC

Oklahoma City, OK (KLTV) -  Longview native Chris Davis knows how to swing for the fences.  He's on pace for 30 home runs this season. But he also knows how to miss.  Leading the major's with 114 strikeouts.

"I was going up there a lot of times, taking three pitches and taking a seat," said Davis.  "I wasn't doing my job as a run producer and a run manufacturer."

For that reason, Davis has been receptive to demotion to Triple-A Oklahoma City this week.  Davis is excited to resume playing with the Redhawks.

"This is a great place to play," said Davis.  "It's good to be back here and see some familiar faces and play with some guys that I played with coming up. So it's a good step for me and it's something that I needed to do. Like I said I'm going to make the best of the opportunity and I'm glad I can be back."

That may be true for now, but Davis hopes to make a quick return to Arlington.

"The big thing for them (the Rangers) that they kept stressing to me was get your head right, work out the kinks in your swing, get back up here and help us out."
