Medieval Sword fight Breaks Out, Four Smote, None Injured

There was a lot of fighting with weapons going on Sunday at Bergfeld park.

Luckily, it was all in good fun.

For the members of the "Fellowship of the Four Winds," Sunday was a training day. The group produces the Four Winds Renaissance Faire in the spring, and spends almost every weekend preparing.

The group, which includes students from area high schools, worked today on their mannerisms and medieval combat, taking care to make sure everything was accurate. The group's director says their mission is to teach kids more than just how to fight with swords.

"It's just a complete education," group Executive Director Dustin Stephens said. "It's everything from literary education to history, to physical education, swordplay, and anger management."

"It has something for literally everybody," he says.

The group trains year-round for their performances. They will move to the Faire site next week to get ready for the spring time festival. They say many of their members join after seeing performances they've put on at local schools, churches, and libraries.
