SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - We confirmed it, East Texas is home to the original tigers of Michael Jackson.
You see, there's been some confusion since the celebrity news site, TMZ, came out saying the pop star's tigers live at a preserve in California. Then you'll remember Monday we visited "Tiger Creek" in Smith County, who also claim to be the home of "Thriller and Sabu."
It turns out, there's no "lion" about it. There are just four tigers. That's right, apparently the king of pop had at least two sets of tigers but kept the same names for the second pair he got at Neverland Ranch.
Tiger Creek showed us the paperwork as proof that we do have the original cats from Michael Jackson.
"We've had his sets of tigers at least nine years now, said Teri Werner, Director of Operations at Tiger Creek. "The last set went to another sanctuary in California. What gets confusing is he names the animals the same names. So when you see their names on there then people are confused, how can this cat go to two different places? They didn't. He's just going through different sets of animals."
We have a call in to the preserve in California and we'll tell you what they say about this. Catch the complete report tonight on KLTV at 10. We'll see you then.
