TJC inducts seven into "Circle of Honor"

Tyler, Texas (KLTV) - The names read like a who's who of Tyler Junior College athletics. Seven of the most influential people in TJC athletics were inducted today into the sports circle of honor.

The seven members span over 60 years of TJC athletics, including Judy Clardy for women's tennis, current SFA women's head coach Lee Ann Riley was inducted for basketball, Riley's teammate from the 80's Scottie Wood also honored, alongside David Rodriquez for mens basketball and former West Sabine star Jack Sweeny.

"This is about as good a thing that has happened to me in my life," said Sweeny, "there may be people more deserving, but you won't find anyone who appreciates it more than me."

Richard Ferris and Robert Talkington for football were also honored, in all, nearly 60 names are in the circle of honor.

"This college bacsically raised me," said Riley, "to be honored with the names that were here today, it is more than an honor, it is a priviledge."

"I have never been more honored in my life," said Wood, "This is something that you will hold onto and remember forever."

    ETBU Athletics Release  The 2017 college football season has arrived and along with that comes preseason polls. The American Southwest Conference just released preseason poll for the upcoming season and East Texas Baptist University is predicted to finish in third place.
