Former SFA football player killed in shooting

Nacogdoches, Texas (KLTV-KTRE) - Former SFA Lumberjack football player Michael Motte was killed last night outside of a Nacogdoches restaurant, a victim of an apparant botched robbery.

Motte was shot outside of Harlon's BBQ, after a group of men approached his vehicle.

Motte pushed down the woman he was with, Ashell Waller, and was shot as the suspects drove away.

Motte was taken to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital where he later died.

Motte was a 2 year All-SLC selection for the 'Jacks as a fullback.

He caught 37 passes for over 370 yards and 7 touchdowns, and started 23 games for SFA.

Motte was a recent graduate of SFA and leaves behind two small children.

One of the suspects, Nickevette Rhonshondo Carey, of Nacogdoches was arrested later in the night and charged with capital murder.
