(Longview, TX) The Longview Public Library invites residents age 60 or better to participate in the Senior Summer Reading Program's "Wii Party." The event, which will feature games on the Wii and Wii Fit, snacks, and other activities, will be held 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Friday, June 26, at the Longview Public Library Moeschle Room, 202 W. Cotton St.
According to Library Assistant Rebekah Metcalf, "The Senior Summer Reading Program is a great way to interact with other Library patrons. We are especially excited about the Wii Party because the Wii Fit is a video game system that incorporates physical movement and mental challenges in fun, low-impact format. The system is definitely entertaining for all ages."
The Senior Summer Reading program is an opportunity for residents age 60 or better to read books of their choice, maintain a reading log, participate in a variety of events, and register for prizes. The theme for the 2009 Senior Summer Reading Program is "Taking a Healthy Interest in Your Library," which will include exploring various types of physical activities, partnering with recreation centers and other organizations, and talking about ways to stay fit physically and mentally. Registration in the program is free.
