Good Shepherd Moves in to New Pediatric Unit

Physicians and children at Good Shepherd Medical Center now have a new home.

Monday, equipment and patients were moved to the new pediatric wing.

The newly designed unit includes 19 private rooms, monitored beds and a hippo examining table.

The new wing is also equipped with a playroom with a window for staff to monitor how the children are doing.

Another key feature for safety is a child security alarm.

"It's a system that a child won't be able to leave the floor without us knowing. It's gonna set off an alarm. You know how toddlers are," says nurse Stephanie Capt.

The new pediatric unit is located on the second floor near the birthing center.
