Longview, Texas (KLTV) - He is one of East Texas' most successful athletes.
Longview's David Wesley is coming back to school.
"Coming back to campus is great, I actually played in the old green gym, so I did not get a chance to play in this nice gym," said Wesley, who graduated from LHS in 1988.
For the 7th straight year, and 10th year overall, Wesley watched as over 100 kids hit the court for his annual camp.
"When I was in high school, Texas kids just started being able to go to camps, so this was not really big when I came out of high school, so it is good to come back and reach out to some of these kids."
As kids hit the court for his camp, is was Wesley, who earlier this year, was hitting the books, going back to Baylor to finish his degree.
"Trying to get back to studying, and doing those things, and doing assignments on time, it was tough, but I got through it."
And Wesley, 17 years after he started, walked the stage.
"It was almost like I did not hear anything when I walked across stage, I was walking across and I was shaking all the hands of the people on the stage, I kind of missed out on that celebration, but it made it official for me."
And is now back at his old school, where he helped hang banners, hoping to teach today's youth the game he played in the NBA for 14 seasons.
