Longview, TX - Chief Executive Officer, Jim Kendrick, Chief Financial Officer, Todd Johnson and Chief Nursing Officer, Stephanie Foster, RN, BSN of Longview Regional Medical Center have been honored with Outstanding Achievement Awards from Community Health Systems, one of the nation's leading systems of general acute-care hospitals.  The organization includes Longview Regional Medical Center and over 120 other hospitals in 29 states.  The Outstanding Achievement Award recognizes hospital leaders who have demonstrated an ongoing commitment to quality healthcare and operational excellence.

Jim Kendrick, Longview Regional's Chief Executive Officer for the last 3 years says his success would not be possible without the support of the hospital's Board of Trustees, medical staff and dedicated employees. "I work with an amazing group of people who care deeply about this hospital and our patients. This award reflects positively on our entire team and our shared commitment to provide quality, compassionate healthcare for our community."

Endless organizations advocate how to choose quality.  At Longview Regional Medical Center, we recommend www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov   Longview Regional Medical Center is proud to be the hospital ranked highest in Quality in the area according to Hospital Compare's report dated March 24, 2009, Comparative Core Measures data.

"As a long time proponent of patient choice in our community, Longview Regional is looking forward to a new era of preference for individuals having access to both hospitals. In the past, many patients were limited to which hospital they could choose due to the restrictive nature of the insurance plan or managed care network", Kendrick stated. This year, many insurance providers, such as Aetna, CIGNA, HealthSmart, Texas True Choice and United Healthcare have opted to allow patients to select their hospital of choice. As the year matures, Longview Regional expects additional insurance providers to open their networks and allow their members to have choice.

Todd Johnson, Longview Regional's Chief Financial Officer for the past two years says he is grateful for the award and credits both strong leadership and the work of frontline employees throughout the hospital for making the accomplishment possible.  "At Longview Regional Medical Center, we are focused on excellence at every level of the organization. I'm fortunate to be associated with a team of professionals who understand what it takes to be successful and to grow so we can better serve our community."

Over the last eighteen months, Longview Regional has invested more than $4,745,025 in new equipment to improve the services they are able to provide to our community.  Some of those include the ad Vinci Surgical Robot, Stryker Navigational Surgical System, Philips Allure Xper FD 20 Cardiovascular Cath Lab equipment (the region's most advanced cardiovascular technology) and the advanced cardiac ultrasound echography or ECHO machine.  Additional locations acquired by Longview Regional include the Physicians Surgery Center of LRMC (in Longview) and Longview Occupational Medicine Clinic - Kilgore.  Longview Regional Medical Center relocated their occupational medicine clinic, Longview Occupational Medicine Clinic to a new $2,000,000 facility, located at 3200 N 4th Street.  LRMC also invested over $1,000,000 expanding medical office spaces in their Medical Park Office Building (709 Hollybrook).

Stephanie Foster, RN, BSN, Chief Nursing Officer who has been employed with Longview Regional Medical Center for 19 years says she is proud to lead an excellent team of nurses.  "I share this honor with the clinical staff at Longview Regional Medical Center. Together, we are committed to the health and wellbeing of our patients, and I am proud to be part of a team that demonstrates this commitment daily through their attitudes and actions."

Longview Regional Medical Center prides itself on its exceptional culture, which is focused on providing quality patient care, and exceptional physician and employee relations. They are proud to have a culture where hospital employee turnover rate is low. LRMC strives to meet the healthcare needs of the Longview community and to reach out to support and grow the services needed.  Longview Regional is pleased to offer many great programs such as Healthy Woman, Sr Circle, Tiny Toes, Health e-Cooking, Volunteer Program, support groups, and much more.

As an organization, their central focus is on the quality of care they provide.  Foster added, "We measure ourselves against our industry of peers using standard quality indicators. In the past two years, we continue to exceed outstanding Physician, Employee and Inpatient Satisfaction Scores.  As our scores indicate, we are committed to making Longview Regional an exceptional hospital."

In 2009, LRMC's organizational focus will continue to be the quality of care they provide to the patient.  Longview Regional Medical Center looks forward to continuing to open up insurance contracts, provide higher levels of friendliness & customer care to the patients, and continue to improve technology and services.

As Longview and the surrounding communities continue to grow, the recruitment of new physicians to their already high-quality medical staff becomes very important.  Over the past two years, LRMC has recruited more than a dozen physicians to the Longview area and they continue working with local physician groups to meet their recruitment needs.
